THE KANO CLUB
SYLLABUS
For children
aged 5 - 7 years of age

At Crewe Judo Club, children may start their judo
training from the age of 5. We use the British Judo
Association's Kano Award system for children aged 5 and 6 years of
age.

All Kano Grades wear a white
belt. When the child is graded, a total of three coloured bars are
attached to the red belt to signify their grade. The order of
colours for the bars are as follows: yellow, green and blue. There
is no full coloured belt and there is no black belt. Children are
also encouraged to participate in the Kano Award Scheme. This is a
set syllabus of 9 awards which the children can participate in.
Children are not required to enter competitions in order to gain
their grades and will not be able to enter competitions until they
reach the age of 8. Depending on the level of the child, they
usually move onto the Junior Mon Grade syllabus when they are 7,
however they are able to opt to stay on the Kano Awards until they
reach their 8th birthday.
We also run a student of the
week award, whereby points are awarded to the member of the class
who has shown the greatest effort. These points go towards the
awards at the end of the month and year and also towards their
team's total.
