On Sunday May 31st 2009, Crewe Judo Club hosted the first of what will be many matches against Silver Tigers Judo Club from Blurton in Stoke on Trent..

Both clubs have set up 4 tournaments a year, 2 to be fought at Crewe's dojo and 2 to be fought at Silver Tigers.  Both clubs fight each other 4 times a year home and away, with competitors gaining medals for the first three positions in each category and the winning club taking home the Lee Gollings Shield. 

In this first tournament, the five competitors picked from each team had their points totalled up and it was level after 4 fights.  The result was down to the final fight with Sean barber from Crewe and Jordan Woodward from Silver Tigers in the Boys Open.  After a tough contest resulting in extra time, Crewe's Sean Barber just scored  a Yuko to win Silver Tigers by a narrow margin of 5 points.
